Mrs. Franks' 6th Grade Monster Marsh

Mrs. Franks-Main Monster

My name is Diane Franks. I am currently celebrating my thirteenth year as a teacher.  This is my sixth year at Appalachian and my third year teaching sixth grade.  I also have experience teaching first grade, fourth grade, fifth grade, being reading coach, and being ARI-PAL literacy coach. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Jacksonville State University, a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) and an EdS degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama. In 2006, I earned National Board Certification, was named Hayden Middle School Teacher of the Year and then Blount County Teacher of the Year.  As if I am not blessed enough in my career, after coming to AHS, I was named Appalachian Elementary Teacher of the Year, Jacksonville State University's Teacher Hall of Fame nominee, Alabama District VI Teacher of the Year, and Julia Tutwiler Elementary Educator of the Year! WHAT AN HONOR!!!

I am married to Keith Franks and we have two precious daughters, Brook and Hanna. Hanna still lives at home and attends Wallace State Community College. Brook is now married to Chris Sullivan and they have a precious 7 month old daughter, Abbigail. We also share our home with two of the sweetest dachshund dogs, Lola and Pebbles (she is a mini winnie). When I am not working on something for school, I love spending time with my family...especially Abbigail, scrapbooking, riding the motorcycle and four wheelers with my husband, and shopping with my girls!  Most importantly, I am a member of Victory Hill Missionary Baptist Church and I serve an awesome God. I have a pretty good pastor too....Keith, my husband, is my pastor! I am blessed beyond measure!
